A scalable packaging system built for a 50-item retail food line.
Berezka Chef is a product line created by the Romanian retail chain “Berezka,” offering ready-made meals prepared in-house. The task was to develop a unified packaging system for 50 products — from hot meals and salads to drinks and desserts — ensuring clarity, consistency, and recognizability across the entire assortment.

The work started with designing the first 10 labels based on existing food photography. These initial items formed the structural foundation: information layout, visual hierarchy, and overall composition.
A key challenge emerged when moving to the remaining 40 products — most of them lacked photography. To avoid stylistic inconsistency and maintain a uniform visual system, a new approach was developed: flat illustrations built from the ingredients of each dish. This method allowed the system to stay cohesive, expressive, and scalable while removing dependency on photo assets.
A color-coding logic was also introduced, allowing categories to remain easily identifiable across shelves. With these foundations — layout, illustration system, and color logic — the packaging line could scale efficiently to all 50 items.
The final collection was assembled, verified, prepared for print, and delivered as production-ready files. All items have been implemented and are now sold across Berezka’s retail stores.
The result is a consistent, scalable packaging ecosystem built for real retail conditions. It supports both photography and illustration-driven SKUs, uses clear color logic, and maintains a unified structure across 50 distinct products. The system provides clarity for shoppers and efficiency for the client’s internal production workflow.
